And just like that, the ARC Truck Series 2018 Fall Brawl is underway! Trevor Perry takes the first checkered flag of the season and etches his name into the history books. Tonight being non-points gave drivers a good amount of track time to see where they stand going into tomorrow night's most prestigious event of the season, the Daytona 188.
Though cautions plagued the race through the second half, much of the Top 5 remained the same throughout the event. But the races 7 yellows put quite a bruise on the field size, leaving only 11 of the 23 starters running at the finish. Perry was able to hold on through attrition and track position, when he took the lead heading into the final stage of the race.
ARC notables TJ Thompson and Drew Carroll both also lead laps in the race, but both fell victim to late race problems. Ty McWhirter made a last minute run at taking his second victory at the famed 2.5 mile oval, but fell just inches short at the line. Drew Carroll, Kevin Spencer, and Jeremy Davis filled out the rest of the Top 5.
We now look forward to tomorrow night as the drivers reset to begin the long season ahead of them!
